"We've all become God's madmen..."
-Van Helsing, 1992, Dracula film.
"I can't tell you how many times I've nearly been bitten by the vampires I've hunted! It is only because of this special suit I wear, that I made as a matter of fact, that has saved me. If I went out killing vampires as unprotected as other hunters do, well, I wouldn't have lasted as long as I have. But not only do I have this suit to protect me, I also have something, well, someone rather to protect me that probably no other hunter has...my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
"Now, before you shut off your little digital recorder there and end this interrogation, just hear me out, okay? I know that in today's age of being politically correct and a push for religious inclusion, as a born again believer in Jesus and a veteran vampire hunter, I am a bit of a paradox. And I like that! Of the number of people I have told that I am a Christian and a vampire hunter, one guy actually said to me one time, 'Don't you worry about that one commandment that says not to kill?' I almost laughed at him but then realized the guy was actually trying to be serious.
"When hunters kill vampires, we are not killing a 'human' being. Vampires are a demonic type of creature that was human at one point, but now have been transformed into something else. Anything or anyone that works against God and the things of God are Satanic and Satanically empowered. Yeah there are evil spirits, devils, which are fallen angels, that the human eye cannot see. But there are also things that Satan's fallen angels have 'made' over the countless centuries.
"You probably don't know what transmogrify is, but it is the magical or supernatural transformation of something into something else. I mean, they'll take for example, bats or wolves or bugs and things and transform or mutate them into horrible, humanoid creatures. That's how humanoid vampires came to be and the same with werewolves. The transmogrified creatures bite humans, where with the vampires, the human blood comes out and the vampire blood replaces it, turning the human into a vampire.
"But then I got to thinking about zombies. Who or what was the source? I just know they exist because I have fought them as well, but I don't know their true origin. Personally I think they are the greatest threat! But I am getting away from what I was saying, sorry. This is only my third questioning since the, well, 'incident.'
"I know you've got more questions about that, so I'll try to finish up. So, I was talking about being a paradox, wasn't I? Yes, okay. I have been a vampire hunter for over ten years now. I knew almost nothing about them at the time I got started, but after seeing my wife and child ravaged by a group of them, one tends to create ways to kill the bloodsuckers! It wasn't long before I met up other hunters and they trained me properly on hunting and killing them. They came in all shapes and sizes, but all I saw was the ghostly pale skin, the black, deep-set eyes, the long fingernails and the two long fangs dripping with saliva, just itchin' to jam themselves into my throat.
"Four years in is when I had had enough and sat down and designed this suit. My years in the military, the Marines to be exact, designing combat suits and armor came in handy building this thing! Its impact was immediate. Vamps kept chipping their canines on the titanium-Kevlar-lined collar and neck guard when they would attack that area. They didn't find it as funny as I did I guess. I also upgraded to a better weapon. No more cross bows and stakes for me, to medieval! This is 2010 after all.
"I got my hands on a Colt carbine M4 auto-rifle and a buddy of mine started making some low-yield incendiary rounds for me. They worked real well too! Made taking those things out a lot easier. But then things got a little hairy five years ago. I was on a mission in St. Joseph, Missouri, a booming city in the northwestern part of the state. A cult of vampires with a particular grudge against Christians had been attacking and even killing members of the Word of Life Church. The story as to why they were killing these people was never made clear exactly! Some victims were born again believers like myself while others were just church goers. But I wasn't sent in to question the vampires anyway, my job was to just put them down.
"While I was up there though, I broke one of the rules of the vampire hunter rule book, if there really even is one. I got myself attached to a young woman named Beth who went to that church. She wasn't a believer, just a church goer. She was about 25 or so. Gorgeous, average height, blonde hair, blue eyes and bright! Though our time together was brief, it was great. She reminded me of my wife in a lot of ways to be honest.
