The
Vampire Clan Ravnos is misunderstood as a clan of Gypsies and
tricksters. They are a minor-heretical branch of the undead Lords
of India. Anyone branded with such a name is a criminal as
they all are!
The members of this clan claims a better prehistory which is recorded in the Karavalanisha Vrana, The Wounds of the Night's Sword.

This poem details how a group of angels betrayed their true purpose and turned themselves into blood-drinking demons and to bring things to order, the gods brought back to life a man that these angels killed.
That man was named, Zapathasura, he was ordained by the gods to
exterminate the asuratziyya (demon angels) and
bring order and balance to the world.
Zapathasura was the first of the Ravnos, he embraced 5 Childer namely, Marizhavashti
Kali who was a seer, Rakshasa a
shape-shifter, Chandraputra a military leader, RavanaYama
King of the
same name, and Ramessu the internal policeman for
Zapathasura's war.
These five were called the Methuselahs and were the
ancestors of all members of the vampire clan Ravnos.
They served Zapathasura for centuries 'till they got tired of his
endless war and killings, leaving him to his schemes as time
deteriorated their cause.
The clan then fell-off and was restructured. The majority of the elders
left India to head west. Chandraputra stayed in the
subcontinent to restructure the clan to a more caste-oriented society.
This newly organized society faced two invasions during the time of Alexander
the Great, one was from western vampires following the
conqueror, and from Kuei Jin on a crusade from
China.
It was during this time that the vampire clan Ravnos was divided into
two groups. The Ravnos who headed to the west deviated from the
philosophy of Zapathasura creating what is now
known as the Path of Paradox while the Indian
Ravnos was divided into castes in a way similar to
the Assamites
having multiple Jati which are responsible in
fulfilling different roles in their war against the Wan Kuei,
this group of Ravnos stayed in India.
The Path of Paradox was a declined version of the Mayaparisatya
which was the classic path followed in India. The Sybaritic
Roman Ravnos changed the path for their self-interest without
following the original dogma which, eventually became the standard path
followed by the Western Ravnos.
The Path of Paradox coupled with the clan's culture led to the clan's
low reputation throughout Europe.
Unknown to other Clans, the Chandalas Ravnos have
arrived in Rroma, they are the Ravnos' (almost) equivalent to the Caitiff.
They consider themselves superior than their purebred cousins.
This group of Ravnos eventually became the stereotypical Ravnos in the
minds of western vampires and the Path of Paradox the standard path
followed by the western Ravnos.
Like their parent clan, all Vampire Bloodline Ravnos Antitribu
are criminals, each having a certain vice ranging from single to mass
murders.
They find it really difficult to control themselves from not indulging
into an opportunity to commit crimes, whenever such is present.
The Vampire bloodline Kinyonyi took their name from a Luganda
word meaning, "bird" which reflects their tendencies for constant
travel. They travel more than any other vampires, even more than the
knowledge-seeking Akunanse.
Jati
Is a Ravnos lineage within the clan, representing the original Ravnos
from India. They are constantly at war with the Kuei Jin
for the control of the region. Most members of this lineage were
destroyed that it is not known whether any of the elder vampires still
exists.
Brahman
The Brahman considers themselves as the keepers of "Way of Mayaparisatya" or the original Path of Paradox. They are the spiritual advisers and philosophers of the clan.
Kshatriyas
The Kshatriyas are traditional warriors, most Ravnos of India belong to
this Jati; known for their Mass Embrace
strategy against the Kuei-jin.
Vaisyas
The Vaisyas are Ravnos who mingles with the mortal society. They are
embraced from the Merchant class.
Chandalas
The Chandalas is considered the lowest-ranked among the Jati.
The Indian Ravnos considers all Caitiff as Chandalas. They are
forbidden to embrace so as not to spread their impure blood and
beliefs.
Sudra
The Sudras aren't considered true Jati and no Ravnos is a Sudra.
Demonic beings of the Ravnos are considered the Sudras.
