Vampire Clan Ventrue are rulers and politicians of the Camarilla. They were sometimes known as the Patrician or the Kingship clan.

They were Generals and Warlords of the ancient Rome, Knights and Barons leading campaigns of conquest during the Dark Ages.

Members of vampire clan Ventrue still maintain their great ambitions during the modern times, they still see themselves as conquerors but have changed their ways, now using corporations and and courts to conquer the world.

They have always targeted people who were in positions of power like aristocrats and company CEOs and have always perceived themselves as the most powerful vampire clan - they've got the wealth, social influences, and power over the thoughts and feelings of the humankind.

They feel that ruling is a burden attached to their souls, their fate which was given to them by Cain, call it their curse if you may.

But truth is, their ambitions of expanding their already vast influence, their obsession to be above all clans and their excessive pride bring such burden. They are politicians, businessmen, military officers, crime lords, and corporate leaders. Unlike other vampires, the Ventrue are very particular of the blood they drink.

Fact is, they can only drink blood from a specific type of human or those who are in a specific type of situation. Some prey only from a specific tribe, others can only feed on mortals of specific religions or profession. Some can only feed from blood of such an extreme-high like ones that carry feelings of anger, fear, and innocence. Regardless of what blood they can drink, some blood are simply insoluble but they can drink any blood from other vampires without restrictions, and that's something to take note of.

Quite typically, all the member of the clan are expected to be conservative in their ways and customs for which they have their own code of ethics. Failure to comply to such unwritten rules are subject to punishment from the elders.

The turning away of the ventrue antitribu against them to join the Sabbat is seen as a result of greed for power over other vampires. They see this group of antitribus as idealists who are doomed to fail.

And since both the main clan and the antitribu seek recognition for being the best clan, both of them claim as the rightful heirs for the name "Ventrue".
