Cross Academy is a school with two groups of students - the Day Class and the Night Class. But the Night Class has a secret that not even the teachers of the Day Class know: everyone in the Night Class is a vampire! Yuki and Zero are the schools Guardians. It's their duty to make sure that no one in the Day Class finds out the truth about vampires.

Mixed in with that are the main characters' own subplots. Yuki has no memories of her life before the age of five, when she was rescued by a Night Class vampire named Kaname. Zero's family was killed by a vampire.

People who aren't used to reading manga (Japanese comics) might have trouble at first, but Matsuri Hino's gorgeous artwork and compelling story make this series a must-read anytime. There's also an anime series, for those of you who prefer to read left-to-right.
