Near Dark, the Kathryn Bigelow’s movie is my favorite vampire movie for many different reasons.
These vampires are a mix of the night creatures with modern or late 80s punks. Violent and rebel without any clear reason.
But not everything is dark and bad. The girl he met at the beginning is actually has a good soul that is willing to help and to change. She likes him and she realizes that people does not deserve to be terminated the way they terminate people.
The movie has great sequences showing the vampires looking for blood and dead. Seduction and sex innuendos are the way to attract their victims. These vampires are sexy and evil sexy.
Of course there is light and day, so because there is not eternal darkness, everything will come to terms. But, only smart people with a big resolution to go out of the mess will succeed.
The combination of light, strength, love, family will help our guy to go out of this and see finally and definitely the right light.
I watched this movie just recently, now that the director is famous and has an Oscar. I love it and believe is the movie that is inspiring many of the new vampire books and movies that are so popular nowadays.
Vampires are beautiful and seductive, and they are an easy night temptation. As most dark hour temptations, they are dangerous and may put you in a one way street. Just be careful and watch your step when is near dark.
